Assuming the answer to that question is YES, this information will help you. We STRONGLY encourage you to print and share this with your fellow crew member and use them as “talking points.”
The Delta Seniority Integration Committee should be congratulated. Delta’s committee of 14 hired outside counsel and spent a great deal of money over several months to come to the conclusion that AFA was correct all along – “Date of Hire” is most “equitable” method for integrating the seniority list. HOWEVER, remember, until AFA is elected and negotiates a single contract for the entire Delta group, there is no binding seniority list. So there is no need for AFA to agree to anything now. Right now, the NWA flight attendants own their seniority list – the Delta flight attendants DO NOT! And Delta management has no say in how the seniority list is integrated.
By agreeing with their
list at this time we lose control of our destiny and
seniority. If the flight
attendants follow the steps listed below WE MAINTAIN
CONTROL!
Step #2 - We
Step #3 - AFA-CWA
conducts polling of all flight attendants to determine your
priorities for a combined
agreement
Step #4 - Negotiate improved joint
Contract using polling information
Step #5 - When
satisfactory improvements are negotiated we ratify a combine
agreement
Step #6 - THEN and ONLY THEN do we merge
seniority lists
IMPORTANT FACTS
v This above timeline was used by our Pilots. Granted, they did not require an election however, they strategically used seniority integration as leverage for contract negotiations.
v The ALPA seniority list was not integrated until a Contract was ratified.
v Delta Management owns and controls the Delta flight attendant seniority list.
v WE the Northwest flight attendants own our seniority lists.
v The word “SENIORITY” appears 351 times in your current Contract.
v Without a Contract you have no control over your seniority!
